Liquidity

How easily shares change hands without moving the price much.

A liquid stock has lots of resting orders close to the current price, so even a large order barely moves it. An illiquid one has few, so an order has to reach further into the book. Liquidity shows up as tight spreads, steady volume and high dollar volume.
